I am trying to gem install ruby-debug on XP. It generates an error while creating makefile. I assume this is a problem with being able to compile from source.

2 questions:

1. Compiling from source seems fairly straightforward on Linux distributions but I don’t know how to do it on XP. Any pointers on how to compile from source from XP?

2. Any ideas about how to resolve the specific error I have gem installing ruby-debug?
