Is there a freeware or cheapware image editing package for the Mac. Somthing like Paint.Net?

Seashore is free but a lot lighter than Paint.NET.

You have a few other options. GIMP is more like Photoshop than paint. And Inkscape is more like Illustrator. Both can be pretty powerful.

I’ve got Gimp up and running and seems to do everything I need.
