Jeff&Brian, Just a quick note before I cut out of work… Thanks for setting up this forum, it will undoubtedly come in handy when I actually find the time to dabble again. BTW, can you guys (and anyone else, for that matter) give me a decent list of books to read/reference/learn from? Thanks again. -d. |

Agile Web Development with Rails is in line with 1.2 and a really good intro. |

D - AWDR, as Andrew pointed out, is the definitive resource for beginners and experienced Rails devs alike. Also a big fan of Rails Recipes (Fowler) and Ruby for Rails (David A. Black). There are whole bunch of Rails titles being released at the moment… keep your eye on the Pragmatic Programmer site. Also, I’ve heard great things about the new Ruby Cookbook (Carlson & Richardson)... not Rails, just Ruby, but supposed to be very good. |

AWDR was my first book and it was great. Rails Recipes is excellent too—but after you’re comfortable with the basics. I heard that Obie Fernandez is working on a Rails Way book (similar to The Ruby Way). You can save some $$ if you get the PDF versions of the Prag Prog books, which may encourage you to try several of them. |

i’m using AWDR which is bloody brilliant. i also bought “Programming Ruby” (the “pickaxe book”) although i’m embarassed to say i’ve barely touched it so far, since i’m already learning so much from AWDR. |
